Static Typing and Breath Mints

Laughed out loud at this one:

Static typing is like giving a drunk a bunch of breath mints and saying “Don’t drive drunk. But if you must, use these breath mints in case you get pulled over.”

    Driving drunk is surely reckless, and not sustainable (maintainable) for the driver or those that have to share the road (code) with him/her.

    The lack of type safety is more akin to deciding to drive without seat belts /airbags because they don’t help most of the time.
