I never believe that google and yahoo earn money to cover huge expense by ad or so.as far as asked huge number of people ,nobody ever paid to these company and just used for so long ,all of people just use them for obtaining information and store their favourites like mail and youtube playlist.

Google gets 95% from advertising related functions. Read the book “In the Plex” if you want to understand it in more depth. Look at their balance sheet if you don’t believe it:

autually, m very plzd with the bunch of information. coming to google,yahoo and other search engines i can say that these people are earning in a very smart way. It’s like they have employers all over the world and they didn’t need to pay a single $ for them,instead these people making the organizations rich. so….an excellent and silent business by them, making them rich and rich every second……..!!!!!!!!!! Anyway,thanks for the information.

yes google is not earning his revenue just by advertisings, but main and starting bussiness was & is advertising …. it is also leaking you privacy for his bussiness ………. someone was commented that all users who clicked does not buy than why companies pays ???? my question is how TV & Radio works and pays salaries to there employees….??? just because of advertising … should be your answer if you really knows it……… they are covering specific area or country but google covers all globe…..

When you talk about other products it also makes chunk of its money through advertisement.

Google mail(Gmail) for eg. has sponsored links top and right of the mail you are reading. These links are very targeted, even though no person at google is allowed to read the mails, google servers can search the content. Think about it how much targeted these ads would be. A normal advertisement might cost less than the googleads, but you only pay to advertise to the people who might make a purchase. A TV ad which might cost upto hundreds of thousands in production alone the airtime charges. Still they reach out to almost everyone. The conversion cost there is almost micro, but when you tell someone who’s interested in buying a laptop that hey we at apple sell those and they are the best the conversion rates increase. You can see ads at Gmail, their blogs etc. and gtalk they dont take any money but they want you to stick to gmail. every mail company has a messenger, its just a service you stick to. personally haven’t much used google docs much so can’t exactly say.
